On this page you will find answers to some common questions about Biodanza®. If you are wondering anything else just send an email, telephone or talk to me before or after a class.

Do I have to bring something with me?

We recommend you to bring a bottle to make sure you get enough of water during the class.

What do I have wear?

Dance in something you feel comfortable in. Some people wear sportswear, others wear skirt, and some wear the cloths they used at work. If you have the opportunity to wear clothes in more layers it makes it more easy for you to regulate your own temperature true the dance.

We dance without shoes, and preferably also without socks. If you have special needs you can wear shoes. In this case it must be light shoes, so you do not harm others. It can also be slippery with socks, so if you need to wear socks, make sure they are not too slippery.

Can I start in the middle of the semester?

You can, in principle, start at any time in the semester, but if you are not familiar with personal development, we recommend that you start on a beginners course, a beginners group, or on one of the evenings with free trial session.

Always check the calendar before you come for specific information if you are new. If the class is closed, if there is a free trial session or there are other special requirements for this session, this will be announced there.

Do I have to speak?

No. No participants talk during the dance. As a member you only need “to be”. You decide how much you want to talk with others before or after the session. Some are tired and prefer to lay down a little for a rest/close their eyes. Others are talking to each other.

Only you know what you need and it's OK whatever that is!

Am I too old / young?

Women and men of all ages are participating in the groups. The youngest who has done Biodanza® with Biodanza® Norway has been around 20 years. The oldest has been over 75 years.

Can I come if I feel really tired?

Yes! You can get even if you are tired. Most people feel they have more energy when they leave than when they arrived. If there are parts during the dance where you'd rather lie down, feel free to do so. There is always also added a lot of harmonizing and rest as a natural part of the session.

I have a disease and must be careful what I do. Can I do Biodanza®?

In Biodanza®, we have 100% respect for the body's own regulatory system. We do not expose the body to stress and movements that are not natural. There will always be participants who require less activity than others. It is quite natural that each of us listens to our own needs and do only what is for the body.

If you are in doubt about Biodanza® and your health situation, or whether the timing is right for you, you can call or send e-mail to the teacher to seek advice. It can also be good for the teacher to know if you have special needs.

I can not dance. Can I come anyway?

Yes! There are no steps to learned in Biodanza®, and there are no requires dance knowledge. All you need is a desire to open up for the moment.

Can I join a Biodanza® session several times a week?

You can come as often as you want. Listen to your body and feel what is good for you.
